Szekszárdi bikavér

2019
The foundation and defining component of this wine is the Baranya Valley Kékfrankos (50%) and Kerékhegy Kadarka (10%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (20%) and Merlot (20%). Except for the Kadarka, the base wines are aged for one year in 5-hectoliter multi-use oak barrels. After blending, the wine is returned to 12-hectoliter barrels for a few months to allow the varieties to harmonize.

Characteristics
The rich aromatics of Szekszárd wines as well as their lively acidity and elegance are what sets them apart from other Hungarian red wines. These wines can be drunk a little earlier than their counterparts in Villány, as they are rounder and their tannins are generally softer. So, Szekszárd wines are not only appealing to drink young, but also have great ageability.
