Characteristics
The Zala wine region is predominantly known for its white wines. Although traditionally little wine from the region was bottled, this has changed in recent years. Zala benefits from excellent growing conditions—while summers are warming, acidity levels remain well-preserved compared to other regions. The wines are typically elegant and light-bodied, with vibrant acidity and rich, aromatic profiles, often featuring mineral notes and, at times, a touch of residual sugar. These wines are very approachable young, but those made from low-yielding vines age well and reach their peak after three to four years in bottle, developing greater complexity and depth.
