Szekszárd, Hungary
The treasure of Szekszárd. It's been ours for generations — part of our heritage as people of Szekszárd. We like to believe that this region is the true home of the Kadarka variety. Its color is characteristically lighter, and the sip may seem gentler compared to other red wines, but don't be misled. Kadarka possesses one of the most complex structures in the country, often hidden beneath its elegance. For those who take the time to explore its depths and age it over many years, its remarkable longevity becomes evident. When blended with other varieties, great care is taken to maintain its dominant character. In our tradition, crafting excellent Kadarka involves including about 10% botrytized, shriveled berries. These bring forth the unmistakable, signature flavors and aromas of traditional Szekszárd Kadarka. We feel fortunate to own a piece of our ancestors’ Szekszárd — a nearly 100-year-old Kadarka vineyard on Kerékhegy, preserving a living link to our family heritage.
