Néró is a Hungarian-bred grape variety, bred in 1965 by József Csizmazia and László Bereznai by crossing Eger 2 (Seyve-Villard 12375 sel.) and Géza Gárdonyi (medoc noir x Csaba's pearl). It has been a state-recognized variety in Hungary since 1993, but has also been granted variety protection in Switzerland and Brussels. The wine is unique, with a special aroma and flavour, and its high antioxidant content is beneficial to health.
