NivEGY is Hungary's first collaborative wine, created by eight winemakers from the Nivegy Valley, Mátyás Szik, Hungary's perennial sommelier champion, and Ádám Róka, editor of nivegy.com. Originating from the heart of the Balaton Uplands, the Nivegy Valley, this wine celebrates the intertwining of community, nature, and tradition. Eight cellars, one spirit: together we can achieve more. Its style reflects the character of the valley: mineral, salty, almond notes, citrus-green apple freshness and a long, elegant finish. Hand-picked, Triassic limestone soil – the perfect meeting of nature and professional humility.

Characteristics

The region is known for elegant, mineral-driven wines with restrained aromatics, fine texture, and a distinct salty character that expresses the unique terroir. To highlight and protect this style, leading producers introduced the Csopak Codex in 2012—a strict quality trademark applied only to wines from 40 designated top vineyards. These wines must come from ripe (but not overripe or botrytised) grapes, meet specific acidity and alcohol criteria, and follow regulated release times. The Codex wines represent the purest expression of Csopak’s terroir and tradition.
