Medium intensity ruby colour. The nose is layered, opening with spices - cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg, anise, fennel, followed almost immediately by black berry fruits - blackberry, currant, cherry, blueberry in the background. On tasting, the flavour follows the aromas; the forest fruits are back, with a slight minty, rose peppery, rosehip (heathery) flavour. A full, yet velvety palate, with an uncommonly long finish for pinot noirs. A full-bodied, complex wine that we hope will go a long way.
